Heart shaped ice cube trays are always fun.

Use the chicken soup as a base and you can make almost any flavor or pupscicles.  My little ones enjoy peanut butter flavored pupscicles.  Just add 1 tablsp of peanut butter per cup of chicken stock.  Mix well and freeze it up for yummy goodness.  These treats are easy to make, affordable and are a healthy alternative to store bought treats that are full of preservatives and junk that is not healthy for your pet.

Here is a favorite shape at our place.  They are sorta bone shaped and easy to get little mouths around.  These treats make AWESOME treats for teething pups as the ice cold helps to sooth their aching gums.  They also make AWESOME treats for summertime.  Dogs get HOT in the summer heat and can often dehydrate.  Low fat frozen broth is a wonderful solution to help beat the heat. I bought my thin ice cube trays at IKEA, but you can be creative and pick up silicone ice cube trays just about anywhere.

Our summers are short up here in Canada but we still love our frozen treats.  I will definitely get some pics of our pups enjoying their treats this upcoming summer and post them up for all to see.

                          Yummy for the tummy

Broth served warm.  When my dogs have their teeth cleansed at the vets they require anesthesia, and so often when they get home they are groggy and may have an upset tummy.  So mama gets out some warm broth to help sooth their tummy.  I always get extra puppy kisses when mama's chicken soup comes out.  Another great time to serve some warm chicken broth is after a spay, neuter or cesarean.  Oh boy its chicken broth all day.  I always make sure I add extra parsley and liver to this batch as it will help build your dogs blood back up as parsley and liver are both high in iron.  Anytime is a good time.  After a brisk walk during our winter months.  Mmmmmm.  Great thing about this recipe is it's low fat, and will not cause diarreah.  If your dog has an intolerance to chicken protein you can substitute with lamb, beef, duck, whatever your choice of meat is.

                          Other Pupsicle flavors...

_If you have peanut butter allergies in your home?  Try our yogurt and cheese flavored pupscilces.  Simply add 2 tablsp of goats yogurt, and a 1 inch squared cube of cheddar cheese, stick it in the blender for a minute and voila!  Cheesy flavor that will get your pets attention ~ and now that you have a motivated puppy... they are ready to learn commands and tricks for you.  They  really love their pupscilces.

Some folks throw tiny pieces of hotdog in or Roll Over treat crumbles.  Whatever your pup desires.  You can even try tiny pieces of apples.

My Meeka loves it when I throw in a couple tablsps of vanilla ice cream with 2 tablsp of goats yogurt in 1 cup of chicken broth, ok I know it's now a treat treat and not so healthy LOL.

_Be sure to get the kids involved!
You can freeze it in any shape to keep things fun.
