About us
I am privileged to have worked with many brilliant people in the dog world. Over the years I have learned much about what it means to be a good breeder.
Why I decided to breed
There are a few key reasons to breed a dog. The first one that comes to mind is to improve a breed. This is a very good reason, but when you already have everything you have ever wanted in a dog, it is difficult to improve perfection. Therefore my reasons for breeding are to share all of our dogs wonderful qualities with the few special families lucky enough to share their lives with one of our tiny puppies.
Intelligence ~ Obedience ~ Health ~ Temperament ~ Calm & Gentle Demeanour
These are all qualities that I am proud to be passing on to our teacup and tiny toy poodle cross puppies.
Our veterinarian has been very supportive and plays an active role in prenatal and postnatal care. He puts my mind at ease by confirming that my mother dogs are healthy.
The few select healthy tiny male poodle studs that we have chosen to sire our puppies are owned by local breeders that operate clean ethical breeding in their own homes and I have personally been to their homes to see this. I do not own the males. In most cases the breeder who owns the male will often make themselves available to you visiting with the sire and or give you more specific information on the him and possibly send you pictures of him, if you would like more then what I have to offer you.
Where should you adopt a puppy from?
I am appalled at the choices that families have, when looking to adopt a puppy.
The Humane Society ~ While saving a dog’s life is the right thing to do, and in some cases you may get a healthy, sweet dog. More often then not you will get a dog who has been neglected, or abused and chances are you will be dealing with either temperament or behavioural issues.
The Pet Store ~ Although most pet stores no longer sell dogs, some still work very closely with puppy mills, and sell dogs with parvol, kennel cough, or with genetic disorders (due to irresponsible breeding).
Kennel Breeders ~ Although some kennel breeders are very good, clean, and responsible breeders. Some of them simply haven’t the time to care for the pups as they should be, as they usually have too many dogs to look after.
No matter where you decide to acquire your puppy from, please be weary of puppies that are being sold for low prices, in order for breeders to do this they must cut corners somewhere, and at what cost, is what you should be asking.
Our Teacup and Tiny Toy Puppies
As a stay at home mom, I have the luxury of being home with each and every litter. When our mama’s start whelping they are never left alone. We are with the all the way. If they struggle or need veterinary intervention ~ off we go. No expense is spared in caring for our dogs. Not because we are wealthy but because anything less would be unacceptable breeding ethics.
Our puppies did not ask to be born. We chose to breed them, it then becomes our responsibility to place each and every one of our teacup and tiny toy poodle cross puppies in only the very best loving homes.
After mama has her puppies she and the puppies are closely monitored. A good breeder loves their puppies. Does that sound silly? Well it is very hard work to raise a litter. From preparing the female for breeding, booster shots, change of food, supplements, screening, choosing the proper stud, trips to have her bred, hotel stays, studding fees, prenatal care of mama, keeping her active, prenatal care, trips to the vet, keeping her away from other dogs, and cleaning poop! It is a true labour of love.
Human Love
My husband and daughter are also big dog lovers and so we truly pour our entire hearts into raising each and every poodle puppy litter. Together we welcome each puppy into the world as part of our family and not part of a kennel. I believe that if you are looking for a pet and expect it to be a part of your family, then shouldn’t he be part of a family from day one? If the answer is yes, then you may just be the type of family we are looking for to place our pups.
Each puppy that is born in our home, is loved, and raised in a clean, healthy and warm environment. Puppies need constant care and should be monitored to ensure it is getting all the nutrition it requires. With a nurturing biological mom and an attentive loving human mom monitoring nearby, we seldom need veterinary intervention. Responsible breeders know that it is necessary to record the puppies weight, feeds, and chart his/her progress, in order to ensure that each puppy is getting all he/she needs to get the very best start in life.
Once the pups are born, I’m on duty 24/7. From weigh ins, monitoring milk intake, supplementing mama, changing piddle pads, wiping bottoms, trips outside with mama to get some fresh air, stretch her legs and have a piddle, recording progress, deworming, vaccines, vet checks, and all the rest of it in between. Whew ~ a real labour of love. Please note that we do not dock tails or microchip our puppies, this can be done at your own veterinarians office if you should so choose.
Now is when we put together our special puppy packages that we hope each and every family will treasure forever. Like any mother who loves their babies, I want to give each puppy the best start in life. Which is why our adoption process is so important. Our puppies go to only the very best homes. They must be responsible, loving families, and must agree to our contract and conditions.
Our little mama’s health is also a priority. We treasure our females, they are important family members here. These mothers bring much joy and love to our lives. They live with us in our home. They are our best buddies. We are a family. Our hope is to share this joy and excitement and hear all about how other families treasure our puppies. When adopting one of our puppies we welcome you to write in our blog and meet other families who have also adopted our babies. Our goal is to build a warm and friendly extended family spot where we can all exchange stories about our furry family members.
Thank you for being responsible and doing your part in gathering important information that is essential to help you make this very important decision.
From our family to yours,
With tails a waggin’
